Schlitz launched Old Milwaukee in 1934 as a low-priced lager for Depression-era drinkers. It was dropped in 1942 because of wartime grain shortages and relaunched in 1959. Stroh took it over with Schlitz in 1982, and it has belonged to Pabst since Stroh was broken up.
