Larry Bell opened a homebrew supply shop in 1983 and began selling beer in 1985, brewed in a 15-gallon soup kettle. Two Hearted, named after a river in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, topped Zymurgy's 'best beer in America' poll from 2017 to 2019. Bell sold the brewery in 2021 to Lion, part of Kirin.
