CUCA, the Companhia União de Cervejas de Angola, was founded in 1947, while Angola was still a Portuguese colony, as an offshoot of Portugal's Central de Cervejas. The government nationalized it on 26 May 1976, after independence. It is also brewed in Catumbela, and its main local rival is EKA.
