Founded in Burlington by entrepreneur Alan Newman and brewer Bob Johnson, it moved to its current home next door in 1997. Its apricot-tinged #9 helped introduce many Americans to craft beer. Costa Rica's FIFCO bought it in 2012 and moved all brewing to its Genesee plant in Rochester, New York, in 2020.
