Incorporated in 1878 when Mathias Kondolf bought an existing brewery, and revived after Prohibition by Louis Wehle. Genesee Cream Ale was created in 1960. Since 2012 the brewery has been owned by Costa Rica's FIFCO, and it also brews Narragansett Lager under contract.
