Moosehead
Saint John, Canada
1867 · brewery founded
Susannah Oland and her family opened the Army and Navy Brewery in Nova Scotia; the 1917 Halifax Explosion destroyed it and killed her son Conrad. George Oland bought the Saint John brewery in 1928, and the moose symbol arrived with Moosehead Pale Ale in 1931. Still Oland-owned, it is Canada's oldest independent brewery.
