Big Rock

1984 · brewery founded

Founded by Calgary lawyer Ed McNally, who was unhappy with the beer available locally. The name comes from the Okotoks Erratic, a 16,500-tonne glacial boulder near Okotoks. Strikes at its big rivals in summer 1986 left it nearly the only beer on Alberta shelves, and it later became a publicly traded company on the TSX.
