Launched in 2002 as a low-carb light beer during a new diet-beer craze, and marketed heavily through sports sponsorships. By September 2025 it had become the best-selling beer in the United States. The Michelob name comes from the German name of Měcholupy, a brewing town in today's Czech Republic.
