The Bosteels family brewery was founded in 1791. Kwak, launched in the 1980s, is served in a glass with a round bottom held in a wooden stand. The brewery says the design comes from an 18th-century innkeeper, Pauwel Kwak, who wanted coachmen to drink without leaving their seats. AB InBev bought the brewery in 2016.
