Grimbergen, Belgium
Brewed in France by Kronenbourg
1958 · first brewed
Norbertine monks brewed beer at Grimbergen Abbey, founded in 1128, until the French Revolution. In 1958, Maes brewery revived the name under licence from the abbey. The phoenix on the label recalls the many times the abbey was rebuilt after fires. Carlsberg owns the brand outside Belgium, and the abbey restarted its own brewery in 2021.
