Alken-Maes

Alken, Belgium

1928 · first brewed

Cristal was created in May 1928 by Jozef Indekeu and Edouard Boes, at a time when few Belgian brewers could make bottom-fermented lager. It became Limburg's best-known pils. Cristal-Alken merged with Maes in 1988, and Alken-Maes is now part of Heineken.
