Żubr means European bison, the animal on its green label. The Dojlidy brewery was founded by Hetman Jan Klemens Branicki. Bought by Kompania Piwowarska in 2003, Żubr rose from 0.2% of the Polish market to one of its best sellers within a few years. Kompania Piwowarska has been owned by Asahi since 2017.
