The brand claims a 1478 privilege from a Mazovian prince granting Warka the right to supply beer to his court, a date printed on its red labels. The current brewery was built in 1973-75 to revive the town's brewing tradition. Since 1999 it has belonged to Grupa Żywiec, majority-owned by Heineken.
