Three Germans, Jorge Claussen, Germán Evers and Emilio Radostits, opened the brewery in the port of Mazatlán. Its label shows a life preserver around a ship's anchor over the port's lighthouse hill, Cerro del Crestón. Grupo Modelo bought it in 1954; in the US the brand belongs to Constellation Brands.
