Launched as 'Cuauhtémoc', with a portrait of the last Aztec emperor on the label. Drinkers called it 'la del indio' ('the one with the Indian'), so in 1905 it was renamed Indio. A dark Vienna-style lager, it is brewed by Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, owned by Heineken since 2010.
