German brewer Wilhelm Hasse founded the Moctezuma brewery and first called this lager "Siglo XX" (20th century) to celebrate the coming new century. The bottles were marked with the Roman numeral XX, which became "Dos Equis" (two Xs). The brand ran the "Most Interesting Man in the World" ads from 2007 to 2018. It is owned by Heineken.
