St Francis Abbey
Kilkenny, Ireland
Now brewed in Dublin
1987 · first brewed
The Kilkenny name was first used to sell a stronger Smithwick's abroad, because foreigners struggled to pronounce 'Smithwick's'. It is a nitrogenated cream ale with a Guinness-like head, owned by Diageo. The St Francis Abbey brewery closed in 2013 and Kilkenny is now brewed in Dublin.
