Founded by two Merano entrepreneurs, Johann Wallnöfer and Franz Tappeiner, it passed in 1863 to Josef Fuchs, whose descendants still control it. One of Italy's largest independent brewers, it has owned Birra Menabrea since 1991 and runs a beer garden next to the brewery.
