It was founded in 1902 as the Rhätische Aktienbrauerei and renamed Calanda Bräu in 1971, after merging breweries across Graubünden. Heineken bought it in 1993 and moved production of Winterthur's Haldengut beer to Chur. It brews its lagers with Alpine spring water.
