Tuborg

1873 · brewery founded

Tuborg was founded in 1873 at a harbour north of Copenhagen. The name comes from Thuesborg, a 1690s inn. Its first beer went on sale in 1875, and its pilsner followed in 1880. Tuborg merged with rival Carlsberg in 1970. Its yearly Christmas beer launch, known as "J-Day", is a Danish tradition.
