'Golden Pheasant' was first brewed shortly after the Hurbanovo brewery was completed in 1969, named after pheasants common around the town. In 1971 it became the first canned beer in Czechoslovakia. Heineken bought it in 1995, and it is Slovakia's most exported beer brand.
