The company began in 1939 in Siglufjörður and moved to Akureyri in 1945. After a series of mergers, it now belongs to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. Viking Gylltur was Iceland's best-selling beer in 2017, and Viking's beers hold more than a quarter of the Icelandic market.
