Newcastle Brown Ale

1927 · first brewed

Created by Colonel Jim Porter after three years of development, it was one of the first beers sold in a clear glass bottle. Locals nicknamed it 'Broon' or 'the Dog'. Brewing left Newcastle in 2005, moved to Tadcaster in 2010, and since 2017 Heineken has also brewed it at Zoeterwoude in the Netherlands.
