Charles Wells launched Bombardier in Bedford in 1980, naming it after 'Bombardier' Billy Wells, British heavyweight boxing champion from 1911 to 1919. Marston's bought the brewery and brands in 2017. The Bedford brewery was sold to Spain's Damm in 2022, and the cask version was dropped at the end of 2024.
