1971 · brewery founded

French and Lao investors founded the company in 1971 as Brasseries et Glacières du Laos, and production started in 1973. It was nationalised in 1975, and its beer was renamed Beerlao in 1995. The beer is brewed with local jasmine rice. Carlsberg now holds a controlling stake.
