Armelle and Dominique Sialelli created Pietra as Corsica's first beer, launching it in 1995 with beer brewed on the French mainland. In 1996, they opened their own brewery in Furiani. The name comes from Pietraserena, the family's home village. The chestnuts come from the Castagniccia region.
